Bare survival is too simple in minecraft, even in 2b2t. Well, one can always survive if he can respawn, which he can indeed.
To survive properly is another question, and the first thing is to get out of the spawn area.
People says nether is dangerous, and one should therefore walk on the overworld high way. That's partly true, as the only real life threatening danger is child zombie (which is usually alone) and skeletons (you can try running pass them), while in nehter it's crowds of piglins that you can hardly escape. Therefore, the conclusion is easy - get far enough to get some wood, mine some gold, then you can walk on nether highway untouched.
On my escape I met several players. Most of them just ignored me. One at the spawn tried to kill me with his bare hands, and failed with his death. One on the nether high way tried to kill me but crashed himself dead instead. The main reason I best him is the armor, as I was on diamond chest armor but he's on elytra. Another might be carelessness, as with that half stack of enchanted gold apples he simply could not die. That's a great elytra by the way, with mending and unbreaking III. Anyway, this boosted my progress a lot.
The impact is somehow mindblowing. I've never experienced things like being murdered wile walking on street. Yet, the murderer is not even on full set of protection. Personaly, with proper protection, like protection IV enchanted armor, a power V bow, potions and alike, a murderer should never fall to its noob prey. These murderer I met were simply incompetent. Lucky me.
Now let's think about that 'proper protection'. It means fully enchanted armor and weapons, stacks of golden apples, constant supply of consumables, which requires a base and lots of grinding. Even then I would suffer from high ping, and could potentially failed a pvp against a match, meaning those grinding is still at a risk. These factors are quite discouraging, once one realized that there were duplication glitches that allowed easy obtain of these essential protection.

Society
2b2t is regarded as the oldest anarchy server. Organizations do exist. To name a few, 'The Communist Party of 2b2t', 'United Builders', 'Highway Workers Union'. Still, the word 'anarchy' describes the situation well, some notable characteristics:
- territory can not be defended, as TNT griefing (just like nukes) has no practical anti-measure
- violance can not be monopolied, as there are no practical means to enforce will on other players in large scale
Besides that some part of the world somehow resembles the Dark Forest (The Three-Body Problem)
- worlds are far away from each other
- coordinates exposure means destrcution
But with one significant difference
- information can be transferred fast and clear, without causing misunderstanding
Some part of 2b2t is different from any real world
- survival is cheap, no pressure
- no real death
The inspiration is quite funny, considering some most important characteristics is where our society is heading for.
- nuclear warefare has the same effect of undefendable griefing
- medical tech and information tech are developing towards immortality
